Assistants fail because they need every app to build them a door. AURA doesn't ask for a door — it reads the screen and uses the app the way a person does.

Perception

It sees the whole screen, not just what apps expose

Maps, games, web views, custom-drawn buttons — if it's visible, AURA can find it and act on it, entirely on your phone. No app has to build support in for it to work.

Typing

It types in the apps that normally block automation

Rapido, Swiggy, Uber and most delivery and ride apps are built with React Native or Flutter — they have no standard Android text field, so ordinary automation types into nothing and silently fails. AURA ships its own invisible keyboard, switches to it only to enter your text, then switches straight back. It never reads what you type.

When AURA finds the route to something, it keeps the route — not the contents. A privacy filter strips personal details before anything is written down, and everything it remembers is encrypted on the device. You can read it, and wipe it, from Settings.

Half the things you'd want done are on the web, not in an app. So AURA carries a real browser — tabs, an address bar, back and home — and opens it in front of you instead of somewhere you can't see.

Its tabs are your tabs

Up to eight of them, with a strip you can scroll and a bar you can type into. Take the address bar off it mid-task and you're just browsing; nothing about it is a special agent mode.

You stay logged in

Sign in once and the session sticks — through closing the tab, and through closing the app entirely. Sites with their own password form work normally. Google sign-in does not: Google has blocked its login inside embedded browsers since 2023, everywhere, for everyone.

Tools written as intentions

browser_find asks for a thing by name and browser_extract takes a whole table at once, instead of twenty blind scrolls. Fewer round trips to the model is why a comparison finishes in a minute rather than ten.

A window, not a takeover

Shrink it to a floating ball and get your phone back, or leave it up and read along. When something needs a human — a login, a captcha, a final confirm — it is built to stop and hand you the page rather than guess its way through.

What the browser is and isn't. Every step goes through the same checkpoint as the rest of the app — permission, policy, audit — and lands in the log you can read. Only ordinary web addresses can be opened; script and local-file targets are rejected outright. But a browser reaches whatever the web reaches, so treat it the way you'd treat handing someone your laptop: banking and payments are yours to do, not its.

You can type instead of talking, and you can stop a task at any time from the bubble. If AURA can't do something it says so — it won't quietly report success for a task that didn't happen.

06 How it works

Look. Act. Look again.

The reason most phone automation breaks is that it assumes the tap worked. AURA checks. Every action is followed by a fresh look at the screen, and if the screen didn't change the way it expected, it tries something else.

STEP 1 Perceive

Capture the screen, find every element that can be touched, and give each one a number. Nothing is estimated from pixels.

STEP 2 Act

Choose a number and a verb — tap 5, type into 4, scroll down. Where a direct route exists, take it instead: a deep link beats four taps.

STEP 3 Verify

Look again and confirm the screen actually changed. If it didn't, that's a failure — not a success to report and move on from.

07 Safety

You're handing it your phone. Here's what it can't do.

An assistant that can tap anything is only trustworthy if some things are permanently off the table. These limits are enforced in code, before any action runs — the AI cannot talk its way past them.

Banking, payment and authenticator apps are on a blocklist. AURA refuses to open them or follow a link into them, and tells you why.

Every one of the 56 tools goes through the same checkpoint — permission, policy, audit log. There is no path that skips it, including for the AI's own calls.

Reading the screen, detecting elements and recognising text all run locally. Your chosen AI model receives only what it needs to decide the next step.

Every tool call AURA makes is recorded on the device and readable in the app — what it did, when, and whether it worked.

Honest limits. AURA needs Android's accessibility service to see and touch the screen — the same permission a screen reader uses. It reads screen content only while running a task you asked for. AI can still misread a screen, so review anything that spends money or can't be undone.

08 For developers

Your phone is also an MCP server

Pair once with a 6-digit PIN and Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor or Copilot can drive the handset directly over an encrypted peer-to-peer link — no root and no ADB required for core control. The optional aura-adb bridge adds a local developer channel. Same 56 on-device tools, same safety gate.

The things people ask first

Does AURA watch my screen all the time?

No. It reads the screen while it is carrying out something you asked for, and stops when the task ends. Reading the screen happens on the phone; it is your AI provider that receives whatever is needed to decide the next step, and only for that step.

What does it cost?

The app is free and there's no account to create. You bring your own AI provider key — Groq has a free tier that's enough to try it, and Google's Gemini free tier works too. You pay your provider directly, if at all. Nothing is billed by AURA.

Why is the download 159.5 MB?

Because the vision models that read your screen ship inside the app rather than living on a server. That's the trade: a bigger download once, in exchange for perception that runs on your phone.

This build also carries code for both ARM processor types in one file so a single APK works everywhere. Splitting it per processor would cut the size further and is planned.

Why isn't it on the Play Store?

It's coming. For now AURA is distributed directly so it can ship and improve quickly. That means you install it yourself — the download page walks through every step, including the one Android hides.

Can it log into websites in its browser?

You can, by typing your password yourself in AURA's browser — and the session stays signed in afterwards, including after you close the app. Sites that run their own login form behave exactly as they do in Chrome.

Signing in with Google is the exception, and it isn't AURA's choice: Google has refused its sign-in page inside embedded browsers since 2023, for every app that has one. Anything that only offers "Continue with Google" can't be logged into this way.

Which phones does it work on?

Android 8.0 or newer, on Arm or x86. Xiaomi, OPPO, realme, vivo, OnePlus, Samsung, Huawei, Honor, Pixel and Motorola are all supported — though some of those add extra permission switches of their own, which the download page covers per brand.

Does it update itself?

Not automatically — apps installed outside the Play Store can't. AURA shows a banner when a new version is out and links you here. Updates install straight over the old app; you keep your settings, memory and keys.

Can it work without internet?

Partly. Seeing the screen, hearing the wake word and speaking back all work offline. Deciding what to do next needs your AI provider, which needs a connection.

What happens if it does the wrong thing?

You can stop a run at any time from the floating bubble or the notification. Every step is logged in the app so you can see exactly what it did. AURA refuses banking and payment apps outright, and asks before anything genuinely ambiguous — but it is AI, it can be wrong, and anything irreversible deserves your eyes.
